Key Responsibilities
- •Review and understand hardscape designs, plans, and quantities.
- •Understand elevations, slope requirements, and drainage.
- •Layout projects using string lines, lasers, levels, and measuring tools.
- •Identify material quantities and staging requirements.
- •Coordinate with Foreman or Superintendent on sequencing and schedule.
- •Excavate and prepare subgrade properly.
- •Install and compact road base and bedding sand to required specifications.
- •Install pavers (patios, driveways, walkways) with proper pattern alignment and edge restraint.
- •Install segmental block retaining walls per manufacturer and engineering specs.
- •Install drainage systems behind retaining walls.
- •Set and place boulders and natural stone features (preferred skill).
- •Cut pavers and blocks accurately using saws and tools.
- •Ensure proper compaction at all stages of installation.
- •Maintain clean jobsite and protect surrounding areas.
- •Maintain production goals while preserving craftsmanship.
- •Communicate daily progress and material needs.
- •Take direction from Foreman or Superintendent.
- •Track time correctly under proper job and cost code (LMN).
- •Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- •Assist in snow removal operations.
- •Operate plow trucks, skid steers, or tractors if qualified.
- •Ensure assigned properties meet company snow service standards.
Requirements
Required
- ✓Ability to read and interpret hardscape plans and layout drawings.
- ✓Understanding of base prep, compaction, and grading principles.
- ✓Ability to operate plate compactors, saws, skid steers, and hand tools.
- ✓Ability to lift 75+ lbs repeatedly.
- ✓Strong work ethic and reliability.
- ✓Valid driver’s license.
- ✓Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- ✓Experience setting boulders and natural stone (strong plus).
- ✓Ability to work as part of a crew and follow leadership direction.
Preferred
- +5+ years experience installing pavers and retaining walls (preferred).
